His real name is Jeffrey Allen Townes and he was born on January 22, 1965, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He developed an interest in DJ at the young age of 10. He started DJing at block parties at that age and he even won the New Music Seminar’s DJ Battle For World Supremacy in 1986.
He was successful with the brand, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince as they were able to sell millions of records. This made him the first rap act to win a Grammy Award. He has a recurring role in the sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alongside Will Smith who was his best friend in the sitcom.
With his interest in music, he started a music production company and labelled it, A Touch of Jazz. After establishing the label, he started producing pop and rap recordings as well as music for television and film.
He is one record to be the first person who designed the first mixer made specifically for DJs who scratch records. His friendship with Will Smith began at a party in 1985. At the party, he was performing, and when his hype man was late to the party, Will filled in.
