Ghanaian Fan Dies In Wild Celebration After Incredible Liverpool Win
According to reports Buzzslate.com cited on Ghanacrusader.com, a final year Engineering student of the Akwatia Technical School, Herbert Danso Atiko, collapsed while celebrating Liverpool’s 4-0 triumph over Barcelona in the Champions League and died shortly after.
Eyewitness account relayed that Herbert who was overtaken with emotion after the referee’s final whistle lost consciousness and remained unresponsive. Having been rushed to the Akwatia Saint Dominic Hospital, he was pronounced dead.
In his interaction with Accra-based Starr FM, Principal of Herbert’s school, Mr Maxwell Owusu-Afriyie confirmed the report, affirming the school’s commitment to looking deeper into the tragic incident.
We will get the details and see if there was something the student did that suggests that his behaviour was in excess. On that, we can really talk to the students. We have a system in place where we talk to the students on their behaviour these days.
Luis Suarez has offered an apology for the “youth team” mindset that Barcelona displayed in the club’s 4-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool on Tuesday.
Barcelona held a 3-0 lead in their Champions League semi-final tie heading into the second leg at Anfield.
But, much in the same way the club fell against Roma in the Champions League in 2018, Liverpool responded with four goals – two each from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum – to knock the La Liga champions out of the competition.
