‘I Perform Shirtless Because It Makes My Fans Go Gaga’ – Kwesi Arthur Claims
‘Grind Day’ hitmaker Kwesi Arthur has explained why he always takes off his shirt during stage performance and sometimes in his video clips. The rapper has developed a unique identity whereby he goes ‘shirtless’ whenever he’s ‘grinding’ on stage.
In an interview on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, Kwesi explained the idea behind his concept thus;
It is the vibe; like the energy around it is just crazy. So whenever I am performing, I just take off my shirt, and the reaction is crazy. I feel like music is our escape, like in this country so many things are going on. Music is the only thing that keeps the youth entertained. Because if you think about what is going on, you will be angry and do something you might regret. So the music keeps us entertained.
When the host asked him why a lot of the youth in the ghettos identify with his music, Kwesi replied that some young people are able to identify with the kind of content he churns out through his music.
Meanwhile, the rapper’s new EP dubbed, ‘Live From Nkrumah Krom-Home Run’, has hit 2M streams on iTunes and Spotify.
