Passionate Sulley Muntari Wants A Place In Kwesi Appiah’ Squad For AFCON – Dr Kofi Amoah
Ghana Football Association’s Normalization Committee boss Dr Kofi Amoah has revealed Sulley Muntari called him to motivate his desire for AFCON 2019 selection.
Now playing his football for Albacete Balompié in Spain’s second tire where he has two appearances and one assist, the 34-year-old Muntari called the FA boss just a few days before Black Stars coach James Appiah is due to name his AFCON squad.
I had a call from Sulley Muntari and the way he was talking with passion I couldn't believe it. Amoah told Metro TV. He said if coach Kwesi Appiah will only play him for 15 minutes, he will be grateful and accept it.
Muntari, whose last appearance for Ghana was in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, currently has 20 goals in 84 caps.
“This is a player who was clueless but now playing regularly but I think the final decision is in the hands of the coach,” concluded Amoah.
Meanwhile, latest reports that are filtering out of Ghanaian media believe that Appiah will name his AFCON 2019 squad later today. The Black Stars kick off the tournament against Benin on Tuesday 25 June.
