The Black Stars of Ghana continued their 2022 World Cup qualifier campaign away from home against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana as they were defeated by a lone goal late in the second half by Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
The Black Stars of Ghana were eager to impress, thus starting the game on a high tempo after their shambolic display against Ethiopia a couple of days ago even though they won the game by 1-0 in Cape Coast.
The Black Stars were back in Johannesburg six months after they held Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, it was the home side who had the 3 points this time around in the World Cup qualifiers.

Once again, the Black Stars of Ghana had a very poor game as they were only able to record one shot on target with a total of just 2 shots from the visiting team. South Africa on the other side had a clear plan to win the game after drawing against Zimbabwe in their first game.
The first goal came late in the second half, when Maritzburg United midfielder, Bongokuhle Hlongwane struck hit a short-range shot which hit the side pole and entered the net to beat the Ghanaian goalkeeper in the 84th minute.
Ghana after their first defeat in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers are second on the table with South Africa leading the table with 4 points. The Black Star of Ghana will host South Africa in eight days time as they look to secure a place in the 2022 World Cup.
