VIDEO: Balotelli Walks Off The Pitch After Being Racially Abused By Verona Fans
Italy striker with Ghanaian parents Mario Balotelli walked off the pitch after being racially abused in Brescia’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Hellas Verona fans.
The former Manchester City and Liverpool striker was dribbling by the corner flag when he picked up the ball and booted it into the area of the stand where the chants were originating.
The referee brought the play to a halt before following protocol, with a statement read out in an attempt to resolve the issue.
Both sets of players tried to block the Italian from leaving the pitch in the Serie A game and after a good convincing from his teammates, Balotelli came back to score a wonder goal
The incident comes just a day after Roma’s match against Napoli was halted due to racist chants aimed at Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The loss didn’t do Brescia any favours as they try to escape the relegation zone in their return to the Italian top flight.
