Youth Group Lands 40 Strong Lashes On Ladies For Dressing Indecently

A youth group in Ubeji community, located in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, known as the Ubeji Youth and Employment Development Organisation, has taken a firm stance against girls involved in what they deem as “indecent dressing.”

Reports indicate that members of the youth group have begun cracking down on suspected offenders, subjecting them to severe lashes or imposing fines as a form of punishment.

Since the initiation of the exercise called ‘War Against Indecent Dressing’ on July 3, 2023, panic has spread among females in the community.

Victims of the crackdown have been compelled to pay fines as high as N10,000 (equivalent to GHC 144) or endure 40 strokes of the cane.

Confirming the development, Stanley Bomele, the Secretary of the youth group, explained that the exercise became necessary due to the provocative manner in which some ladies dressed within the community.

Bomele expressed concern that some girls were pushing the boundaries of fashion, almost approaching nudity, which reflects poorly on the community.

He attributed assaults and incidents of sexual harassment in the area to the prevalence of indecent dressing among young women.

Bomele emphasized that wearing miniskirts, bummer shorts, or tight biker shorts would no longer be tolerated in the community, issuing a warning against such clothing choices.
